Last week, we had the great pleasure and privilege of visiting five excellent schools in and around—aptly—South and/or West London.
That’s five schools (two primary, two secondary and one all-through) all doing the same thing—running excellent schools—each in a slightly different way.
It was an incredibly enriching experience with leaders lifting the lid on their schools, their minds and—indeed—their hearts; to explore what, how and why they’re doing what they’re doing to eradicate educational inequality in their own communities.
We are so grateful to these schools’ people for the generosity of spirit, energy and time they summoned and shared with us throughout the week. Thank you, from all of us.
After each visit, our SW100ers took time to reflect. Amongst some other prompts, we asked:
What impressed them most about the school,
What challenged their thinking, and
How do they expect the visit will influence their own approach to school leadership?
Now, you won’t be surprised to learn that peoples’ insights were themselves rich and varied but, nevertheless, we’ve tried to draw out some consistent themes from each visit in the supplementary posts below.
